A forgotten Sanatani Swami Shraddhananda

 

On this day, December 23, 1926, Arya Samaj leader Swami Shraddhananda was assassinated by Mslm fanatic Abdul Rashid when he was lying sick in bed.

Abdul Rashid entered the house with an excuse that he wished to discuss Islam with Swamiji. Then he asked for a glass of water. After giving him water, when Dharmapal went inside to take the glass, Rashid fired gunshots at Swamiji.

Swami Shraddhanand was the victim of fanatic 1s1am, but he attained martyrdom

Eleven months later, the man charged with his muπder, Abdul Rashid, was e×ecuted, leading to πioting throughout the city.

When Abdul Rashid was ha nged for muπdering Swami Shraddhananda, Mslm clerics all over India held prayer meetings for his martyred soul. 

Dr. Ambedkar wrote :  "The leading Muslims, however, never condemned these criminals. On the contrary, they were hailed as religious martyrs."

Swamiji was the one who, in 1919, bared his chest before British bayonets and strongly condemned the Jallianwala Bagh Mass* cre of April 13, 1919.

In 1922, a huge procession was led by Swami Shraddhanand. Despite the police threatening to shoot him down, an unperturbed Shraddhanand moved on.

He addressed a predominantly Muslim crowd at Jama Masjid where he first recited Ved Mantras and gave an inspiring speech . He also actively worked for the Shuddhi Movement, where he converted many back to Hinduism.
